On April 13, 1929, the Association for Homeland Security was founded in Schwaz. Associated with this are the opening of the first Schwazer Museum on July 19, 1929 as well as the implementation of an exhibition of Schwaz artists on the occasion of the 10th homeland protection conference of the "Inn-Salzach-Gau" in Schwaz from August 9 to 12, 1929. 10 years later, both In Schwaz and Innsbruck, exhibitions of “folk-related” art from Schwaz with works by contemporary Schwaz artists were shown.

These two events serve as the starting point for the exhibition heim@schwaz.at. With works from the 1920s and 1930s, this explores the different uses of art as a “mediator” for ideas and objectives relating to “home” and relates them to works by contemporary artists from Schwaz, the Schwaz district and the rest of Tyrol.

Works by Max Angerer, Josef Baumgartner, Karl Bodingbauer, Hans Ebenbichler, Toni Knapp, Sepp Orgler, Ludwig Penz, Karl Rieder and Hans Josef Weber-Tyrol as well as Gert Chesi, Christian Danzl, Heidi Hollaus, Paul Albert Leitner and Günter Lierschof are shown , Rosmarie Lukasser, Roland Maurmair, Thomas Riess, Rens Veltman and Lois Weinberger.

In addition, there is an extensive supporting program with lectures, readings, round tables and films on the topic of “home”.
