Castle Ruin Rottenburg
...

A retrospective of nobles and saints. A cold wind blows through the preserved walls of the Rottenburg ruin. These stone witnesses survived and tell of the time when the castle was still the administrative centre and economic hub of Tyrol. It was first mentioned in 1149.

The Reconciliation Stairs for example still bear witness to the reunification of the once hostile Counts of Rottenburg. That they were reconciled was due to Saint Notburga, who died at Rottenburg Castle in 1313. In 1956 the so-called Notburga Chapel was built in her honour from the preserved stone walls. Today the area, which is under nature and monument protection, is maintained with much love and respect for the history of volunteers and friends of Rottenburg Castle.
