Bible Trail - Rottenburg Castle Ruin
Hiking

Relaxing hike for body and soul, in unspoilt nature, far away from hectic and stress.

From the Gasthof Esterhammer inn's car park, follow the forest path signposted as a Bible trail and walk along the contemplative sculptures to Tyrol's highest spruce, a natural monument 54 metres high. The hike continues to the ruins of Rottenburg castle, with the reconciliation steps, a nice resting place with fireplace and the emergency castle chapel. In the Middle Ages, Rottenburg was regarded as the centre of the nobles and noblemen and was the economic hub and administrative centre of Tyrol. On the way back, children must make a detour to the Knippingpark nature playground before reaching the starting point at Gasthof Esterhammer. A worthwhile conclusion is certainly a stop in the garden of the Gasthof Esterhammer with its rustic chestnut trees.

Castle Ruin Rottenburg

  • Place: Buch in Tirol
  • A retrospective of nobles and saints. A cold wind blows through the preserved walls of the Rottenburg ruin. These stone witnesses survived and tell of the time when the castle was still the administrative centre and economic hub of Tyrol. It was first mentioned in 1149.
