Kufstein Fortress
Back to the time of the knights

A travel destination since over 800 years

For more than 800 years the fortress Kufstein has been visited by different people. Well, in the first centuries these were rather hostile armies who wanted to conquer the fortress. Nowadays, this impressive landmark enjoys great popularity with people from all over the world.
Many centuries later, the bulwark now offers an exciting and varied programme for young and old alike. The offer ranges from adventurous guided tours to visiting our museums and exhibitions to a tasty dinner for the lords of the castle in the fortress restaurant.

On your individual tour of the Kufstein Fortress, you will explore the impressive open-air grounds with the fortifications typical of fortresses such as the Elisabeth battery with cannon guns or the castle roundabout at 21 different stations. You can also take a look at the approx. 60 metres deep well and discover the secret of the underground rock corridor. Finally, you will visit the various museums as well as the changing special exhibitions and much more.

The museum in the Bürgerturm houses an extensive collection of exhibits from the Tyrolean imperial fighters and Tyrolean gunmen. It is also home to the world's first free rule.

The Kufstein Fortress offers barrier-free access.
