The hub for tourism, traffic and culture - Welcome to Jenbach

Jenbach, a market town at an altitude of around 570 metres above sea level, is home to around 7000 inhabitants.

Jenbach is not only very popular with guests due to its central location in the valley, the town also offers two historical highlights that attract many railway lovers. The Achenseebahn was inaugurated in 1889 and from this memorable time it was heated daily in the summer months to bring the passengers to the Achensee. There is a lot to admire on the 7-kilometre-long route to the Achensee, but the special feature of this cable car is the mostly really steep ride uphill. After a 45-minute journey, you will arrive at the landing stage, where you can take a boat across the lake. Back at the Jenbach railway station - just across the street - it's on narrow-gauge tracks into the Zillertal. The steam train covers a distance of 32 kilometres, allowing passengers to admire mountains, country and people in the open air or in a comfortable wagon. Both locomotives are still heated by hand. A growing childhood dream for many men, who lead the courses there with their hearts.

This place is not only interesting for railway lovers, because the trains of the Austrian Federal Railway stop in Jenbach as well. Many express trains from Germany and Italy pass the Jenbach railway station and the trains are ideally suited for an ecological journey to the silver region of Karwendel.

For sports enthusiasts, there are also wonderful hiking and mountain biking routes. For example, you can hike on the Stanser Joch and head towards Achensee. From Jenbach one reaches the Rofan- and Karwendelgebirge at the "fastest" - one compares the routes starting here with others in the silver region Karwendel. The terraced swimming pool in the centre of Jenbach also offers a relaxing cooling after warm hiking days.
