The Silberregion Karwendel has wonderful hiking tours to offer - from long hikes to leisurely strolls for the whole family. 2,000 animal species live between the rugged limestone massifs of the Karwendel Mountains and the Inn Valley, including chamois, ibex and one of the most important golden eagle populations in the Alps. The highlight of the nature park is the Großer Ahornboden, a natural monument with over 2,000 sycamore trees. Every Wednesday the Eng bus runs from the communities in the Silberregion Karwendel across Lake Achensee to the natural jewel and Almdorf Eng. The Eng Alm is an amazing piece of earth, high up at 1250 meters above sea level. Here nature is both a stage and a play, meadows, cows and mountains form the framework for an abundance that moves the senses. The Ritter-Waldauf circuit and the two suspension bridge circuits that connect the four communities of Weer, Weerberg, Kolsass and Kolsassberg offer relaxed and at the same time educational moments for young and old. On the well-known Inn Cycle Path and all around, all of the region’s worth seeing destinations can be reached within a radius of 20 to 30 kilometers: the Schwaz silver mine, Tratzberg Castle, Wolfsklamm and Freundsberg Castle. Ambitious mountain bikers will be thrilled with altitude when they go from the valley station of the Kellerjochbahn to the Hecherhaus. After around eight kilometers and an altitude of 550 meters, you have reached the Hochpillberg. The double reward for the tough tour is the view of the Karwendel and the Inn Valley as well as the culinary temptations in the Hecherhaus.
