Most beautiful place in Tyrol

The "Große Ahornboden" (Great Maple Ground) was voted the most beautiful place in Tyrol. On 240 hectares there are 2,300 maple trees, the oldest of which already count around 700 annual rings. The sycamore maple is dominant in the Karwendel Mountains, it loves the gravelly soil.

The natural monument "Großer Ahornboden" is for many the epitome of the Karwendel Mountains par excellence. Here nature is stage and spectacle in one: maple trees, meadows, cows and mountains as a frame for the ground on which you walk and stand reduce to the essentials. This natural, sensory fullness makes you almost humble.
