KLANGSPUREN SCHWAZ - DAY AND NIGHT A#b#c#
From the song "Innsbruck ich muss dich lassen" to Bach, Brahms and new works - an evening about balance, tradition and the forces of nature
The equinox becomes a musical moment of equilibrium in St. Martin's Church. The focus is on Heinrich Isaac's song Innsbruck, "I must leave you", which has wandered through music history as a sonic shadow for 500 years - from Johann Sebastian Bach to Johannes Brahms. With arrangements by Raaf Hekkema, the Calefax Reed Quintet spans an arc from Bach's motet Jesu, "meine Freude" to Johannes Brahms' Abschiedsgruß. Composer Daan Manneke continues this tradition in "Cantus Fixus", before composer Carola Bauckholt leaves the human sound to the raw energy of nature with "Migratory Birds".
