Exhibition in OG2
It is often only on closer inspection that pictorial representations or seemingly everyday objects reveal themselves to be representatives of comprehensive cosmological concepts. This is by no means only a matter of material heritage. The path to understanding usually leads through myths, autochthonous and ethnographic knowledge. Such objects represent world views in the sense of explanatory models for the origin, nature and interrelations of our world. They are characteristic for every culture. This is also true for western, rational world views, which claim to be based on scientific knowledge. They, too, have a long, often very irrational history, as can be seen, for example, in numerous cartographic representations of the earth. Opening hours: Thu Sun, 10am-5pm Every Sunday at 2pm Museum tour.
