Norbert Span "Stars over Tyrol"
The mountains in North and South Tyrol by night. The best pictures of a mysterious journey through the Alps by starlight
Stars over Tyrol
The illustrated Buch Stars over Tyrol literally opens up new galaxies in the local sky to the viewer. With the help of incredible images, award-winning astrophotographer Norbert Span takes the reader on a journey through the night to constellations such as the dragon, giraffe and bear guardian, into strange galaxies and along well-known mountain silhouettes such as Hohe Munde, Olperer and the Three Peaks. After all, the Alps are one of the few places in Central Europe where the starry sky still reveals itself in all its glory. At the same time, the author answers the reader's crucial questions: When does the first star shine after sunset? What does it take to photograph a constellation? And how many stars are there really in the sky? It is a Buch for everyone for whom a night means much more than just darkness.
Norbert Span
Norbert Span, who lives in Steinach am Brenner, was already looking at the stars through a self-made telescope at the age of 14 and has been photographing the night sky over the Alps for 40 years now. After studying meteorology, glaciology and astronomy and completing his doctorate in Innsbruck, he made nature documentaries for broadcasters such as Servus TV, ARTE and SWR and won international awards for his astrophotography. Span was significantly involved in the planning of the first public observatory in Tyrol.
