The theremin is the only instrument that is played without direct contact. In this workshop, musician Khadijah Pamelia Stickney introduces this extraordinary instrument and teaches basic playing techniques. Originally developed as an alarm system by a Russian KGB agent, the theremin combines movement and hearing with the help of electromagnetic fields. Experience how the movement of your hands alone creates sound and what forms of expression the instrument offers.
