PHOTO WORKSHOP WITH GREGOR SAILER: Unseen Places
In cooperation with the Kunstraum Schwaz, we are pleased to announce the workshop with the internationally renowned photographer Gregor Sailer
Gregor Sailer was born in 1980 in Schwaz in Tyrol. In his photographic works, he shows unusual buildings on the fringes of human civilization. The artist is interested in the transformation of the landscape by man as well as the political, military and economic implications of architecture. The works require months of research and stays under extreme conditions.
From 2002 to 2007, he completed a degree in communication design with a focus on photography and experimental film at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts. He also completed his Master's degree in Photography Photographic Studies there in 2015. Sailer's award-winning work has been shown nationally and internationally in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
As a photographer and artist, I see it as my task to work out subject areas that are often unknown or deliberately kept invisible. I try to create access to (pictorial) worlds that would otherwise remain hidden or blocked to outsiders.

The 3-day workshop introduces the working methods of the artist Gregor Sailer and places particular emphasis on supporting and strengthening the participants in finding their own artistic expression. A shooting day with special photo permits for locations that are otherwise inaccessible or difficult to access offers many exciting motifs and the opportunity to train image composition, especially in the field of architecture. In the event of winter, an interesting alternative location has been organized.
The debriefing of the resulting works and a final presentation will take place on the last day of the workshop in the Kunstraum Schwaz.
The participation fee is 500 (excl. 13% VAT) for 3 days. The number of participants is limited.
Reduced places are available for students at a price of 400 euros (excl. 13% VAT).
The price includes the photo production of selected digital material for the final presentation. If interested, there is also the option of exclusive portfolio reviews with Gregor Sailer at the workshop's fringe times.
PROGRAM
Day 1
Get Together and Lecture
29.10.2025, 17.00-21.00:
17:30 - 19:00 Exclusive lecture by Gregor Sailer and introduction to his working method
From 19:00: Getting to know each other, introduction of the individual participants and their photographic approach and objectives. (The specific participants will then be contacted again before the workshop so that they can prepare their individual short concept)
Day 2
Shooting Day
30.10.2025, 08.30 - 17.00 (lunch break in between):
Meeting point Kunstraum Schwaz. Shuttle to the photo locations and back.
Communal lunch.
After the shoot, independent selection of the image material for the debriefing on the following day and provision of the digital data for the photo production.
Details of the photo locations will be announced.
Day 3
31.10.2025, 10.00 - 17.00 (lunch break in between):
Presentation and discussion of the individual images or series created by the participants.
Selection, compilation and dramaturgy, design of a hanging for the final presentation.
