The large-format images, taken in harsh Schwaz and white contrast, show a production site of the world's first fighter aircraft with jet engine technology that has been inaccessible to the public for many decades. This aircraft was produced during World War II under inhumane conditions by forced laborers in a section of the former Schwaz mine. Today, the so-called Messerschmitthalle is located in absolute darkness in a Tyrolean mine without any infrastructure. With a specially designed and elaborately installed lighting concept, Sailer brings this non-place to light in all its brutality and harshness and provides a photographic document of an otherwise invisible reality.
