Up the Hochnissl
Mountain tour
Very long, very steep and enormously beautiful. The basic requirements are surefootedness and a sense of orientation in the pathless scree.
The wide rock pyramid of Hochnissl towers above the meadow plateau on Vomperberg by a continuous steep 1700 metres in altitude. And so the continuous sun-side ascent from this side is an extremely tight tour, demanding all fitness reserves, even for experienced mountaineers. But experience has shown that peaks that have to be earned with particular effort are also a very special experience.
From Vomperberg approx. 1/2 hour on the wide path towards Vomper Loch. Turn right on a narrow path in serpentines and a slope crossing to the Dawald hunting lodge. Follow the zigzag path over a mountain pine ridge and through the Bear Valley into the large cirque under the Niedernissltowers. Left-holding (watch out for the markings!) over scree and a steep ridge step onto the green shoulder at Niedernissl. The following 400 vertical meters ascend the south flank in many hairpin bends. Finally to the left - partly at wire rope safety devices - at the rocky ridge to the summit of Hochnissl, 2546 m. Descent on the same route.
Take enough drinks with you - there are no springs from the Vomper Loch Weg turnoff. Refreshment only at the Gasthaus Karwendelrast at the start and end point.
